“The Last Exorcism” -Netflix Review
31st January
Directed by: Daniel Stamm
Date: August 2010
We meet Rev. Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) as he prepares for his final Exorcism, which he has invited a documentary crew to film. Although Marcus has been preforming exorcisms for years, to him it is only that-a performance. In his grandiose documented exit from supernatural lifestyle, he gives up his “tricks of the trade,” including a rigged smoking crucifix and nine volt batteries attached to rings. Although he does not believe that demons can possess a human he sure puts on a show for the families of spiritual victims. But has the good reverend been jaded? After his last exorcism has been completed things still seem a bit off in the home of the Sweetzers. The crew returns to find that maybe this family isn’t so “sweet.” Oh yeah, I went there.

Killer of Homeless in O.C. Still Not Apprehended
30th January
The streets of Orange County are quiet and sullen tonight as a surviving tribe of local transients band together to reflect on the events of the past few weeks. A dark hooded figure has been stalking and brutally killing homeless men in the area. He has already claimed the lives of three men using a knife to stab them while they are sleeping. The first victim, James Patrick Mcgillivay, 53, was stabbed outside the Palencia Shopping Mall on December 20th. The next victim, 42 year old Lloyd Middaugh, was found in a riverbed on an Anaheim trail about a week later. Then the following Friday, Paulus Cornelius Smit, 42, was found dead at the bottom of a stairwell outside the library in Yorba Linda.
As to why someone would target the homeless is baffling to say the least. Isn’t it bad … Read More »
“Ichi the Killer” -Netflix Review
30th January
Directed by: Takashi Miike
Release date: 2001
Based on Hideo Yamamoto’s manga series of the same name
(Yes more subtitles, get over it! The oversea market is really putting out some quality work and I refuse to watch foreign films in anything but their native language)
The Japanese Yakuza have terrorized Japanese business men and committed true acts of horror for centuries while trying to advance their family and well, let’s be honest to make money. But I’m sure nothing can top the sadomasochistic actions Yakuza enforcer “Kakihara” takes while trying to find out what happened to his boss/crime lord Anjo.
Anjo disappeared one night, well most of him anyways, while he was enjoying the company of one of the many prostitutes in the area. Leaving behind only a room with the walls covered in blood and three million yen missing along with him. Anjo’s faithful enforcer … Read More »
The Mysterious “Poe Toaster” Comes Nevermore
30th January
A decades long tradition has seemingly come to an end when a mysterious man known only as the “Poe Toaster” failed to show up to pay tribute to Edgar Allen Poe on his birthday. The third year of his absence has come and gone and the hopeful fans have been let down for the last time. Among them, Poe House and Museum curator Jeff Jerome. The museum, established in 1922, holds the largest collection of books, letters, memorabilia, and personal belongings of the master himself.
“It’s over with,” Jeff said wearily. “It will probably hit me later, but I’m too tired not to feel anything else.” Jerome has kept a vigil for the toaster since 1978 and has since gathered a dedicated crowd of followers. The visits started sometime in the 1940’s by an anonymous man said to wear all black … Read More »
Silence is Golden
10th January
I like it here. The room is smaller than my apartment was, but not by much. The only people I encounter throughout the day are the guards or the doctor, and if I ignore them they eventually go away. Unless I refuse my medication.
This is definitely better than other places I have been. Nothing like the hospital, with all the patients and the nurses and the psych techs bothering you constantly. I can just sit here all day and listen to the friends inside my head.
Before I arrived here there were so many distractions. Always someone trying to interact with me and force me to hear their stupid thoughts put into words. Why everyone was born with a tongue I have no idea. You should be required to take an I.Q. test in order to get one, in my opinion. … Read More »
The First Cut
9th January
The anticipation was killing him. She was so beautiful, tied to the bed like a helpless victim with her wide eyes locked on his in terror. She thrashed back and forth as he stood there, and each time she moved his fists clenched a bit more and the need for blood elevated in his mind. He slid his finger across her thigh; so smooth and pale. He touched her stomach, her hips. She tried to scream but the sounds were muffled thanks to the duct tape firmly sealed across her full, red lips. Tears began to run down her cheeks, taking make-up with them and leaving a streaked trail of black behind. He loved that look. Maybe someday this would come into style, he thought to himself. Appearing on the cover of Vogue, girls with tattered t-shirts and tear stained … Read More »
Captive
9th January
It was hard to breathe. She had been dreaming of running up a flight of stairs, up and up, but never reaching the top. Higher and higher she would climb, but each step brought her no closer to the light at the top of the staircase. Her lungs were begging for air but it was almost impossible to satisfy the request for some reason.
Janice tried to open her eyes but the darkness that engulfed her would not release its grasp. It felt as if something was preventing her from lifting her eyelids, something stretched out across her face, and each time Janice tried to blink free from this veil she failed.
