This column deals with legends and the unknown. We will be taking a look at “cryptids” and “cryptozoology,” which are terms used in the study of the unknown in the animal kingdom. Have you heard of El Chupacabra, the sulfur-spewing beast in Mexico? That’s a cryptid. We will also examine popular “urban legends” used to terrify children and teenagers. Lots of fun, but where do they get their roots? Is there any truth to these tales or are they merely modern day ghost stories? We will also explore some of the more terrifying conspiracy theories out there, the ones drenched in blood and treachery. Whether you believe in them or not, they do question the unknown and never fail to entertain. And who doesn’t like a little assassination and attempt at world dictatorship with their morning coffee?
